Three weeks from tomorrow, my daughter and I are heading off to Tokyo for a vacation. I've been there at least 10 times, but this is a first for her. She's 13 and has traveled internationally just once, to France.
I love visiting Japan. I have some friends there, but it's the cultural differences that fascinate me most. It's an interesting experience to really feel like an outsider in a place where you don't know what's going on, what people are saying, or what all the signs say. Kind of like Lost in Translation, but without being a movie star.
For now, we are working on our plans. We'll mostly be around Tokyo, with a few day trips to some other cities. And, we'll climb Mt. Fuji on one of our last days there.
